Meet Dr. Carolyn Fleming
An Early Lesson on the Value of Chiropractic
It was back in the fifth grade that Dr. Carolyn decided to become a chiropractor. She had a hip injury that was causing her pain. Her family didn’t usually go to the medical doctor for small concerns but instead took Dr. Carolyn to the chiropractor.
I remember being fascinated by the experience. It stuck in the back of my mind that I was interested in becoming a chiropractor.
During Dr. Carolyn’s undergraduate education, her nephew was scheduled to have tubes put in his ears for a chronic infection. His parents brought him to the chiropractor. After a couple of weeks, his problems cleared up. The surgery was canceled, and the boy never had another ear infection. Hearing about this experience drove Dr. Carolyn to focus primarily on pediatric and prenatal chiropractic.
Deciding to Support Moms and Kids
To obtain a Doctor of Chiropractic, Dr. Carolyn attended Northwestern Health Sciences University. There, her horizons were further expanded on all that chiropractic could do. She began taking courses through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA) and decided to concentrate on care for pregnant women and children.
Dr. Carolyn is certified in the Webster Technique for expecting moms by the ICPA. She is also a member of Epic Pediatrics.
Some of the families who come to our office have children diagnosed with ADHD or have been told they’re on the autism spectrum.
I’m passionate about reconnecting the family dynamic and helping them overcome diagnoses. It doesn’t have to be a life sentence.
Making the Most of Life in Maryville
Dr. Carolyn’s family background includes three brothers, a sister and parents who have been married for nearly 40 years. When she isn’t in the office, you’ll find her exploring the mountains, going running and trying new restaurants and breweries.
